Wonder House is a Philadelphia-based original band formed in 2021. Wonder House plays original music with a wide range of influences, including Rock, Folk, Funk, Blues, Americana, Jazz, and Pop. Wonder House songs explore memories of good times and hard times, and celebrations of being in the moment, enjoying uplifting music with good friends.
Wonder House released their first EP, “Open House,” in early 2023 and their second EP, “Wonder Too,” in 2024.
The group started as a collaboration between songwriters John Luther (who played in successful bands Hot House Orchids and Haymarket Squares in Phoenix, AZ and moved to Philadelphia in 2019), and Topher Horner, a longtime veteran of the Philadelphia area music scene (April Mae and the June Bugs, O My Stars and The Knife and Fork Band, and Go To Blazes among others).
Wonder House music is built on a solid foundation of Jon Kelsey’s drums (as heard in the Manayunk Homeboys, O My Stars and The Knife and Fork Band, and The Rolling Hayseeds) and Topher’s bass. A three-prong guitar approach from Mark Tucker (John Train, The Donuts, The Rolling Hayseeds), Matt Voelker (Player One and the Mad Catz), and Chris Hoxie provide depth and intricacy, intertwining with John’s integral keyboards. Mark also brings his excellent steel guitar and keyboard playing into the mix. John is an engaging front man with a powerful voice and a lot of energy. Chris, Topher, and Julie Whitaker add strong vocal harmonies.
